I haven't noticed any conservatives out tearing down statues....so.
Conservatives believe in a smaller government, so one would think that opposing the idea of federally maintained statues would be a strictly conservative value.
I've noticed that you almost always side with "big government," as long as it's "big" for the Republicans. That doesn't make you Conservative... it makes you a puppet for Fascism.
Since you support tearing down statues of actual American history... what would you prefer to see? Without looking it up, do you know who Colonel Ben Cleveland was? Anything about his story?
His statue was built in the 1970s, and there's no way of knowing how much money the local government has spent on maintaining it. I know that it was vandalized in 2019, though, so they spent some money cleaning it then.
Would you support replacing this unknown statue with one of, say, Donald Trump?

Not one of the so called conservatives that post on this site have the slightest clue as to what socialism or communism is about, nor do they even understand the real ideology of the party with which they themselves claim to affiliate. Not only do they not understand the manifestos of socialism and communism they have no comprehension of the vast differences between the ideologies, there are at least six European countries with socialist governments that have monarchies which would not exist under communist governments. There has never been a communist country only dictatorships claiming to be communist. Had Trump got a second term and successfully set himself up as dictator he would no doubt have said that the USA was a Republican country. Get your heads out of your arses and stop spouting Tail Gunner Joe fear rhetoric, although Trump won in 2016 (although not according to the popular vote) on the fear vote. If the dem's had enough balls to fight dirty like the repub's they could get in by a landslide in 2024. All they have to do is point out clearly how Trump and his base intend to turn the USA into a fascist dictatorship

Tmann I actually just sat down to a meeting with the local communist party (they are all democrats because there's nothing diametrically opposing in communism and neoliberalism and democrats are certainly not more politically in line with conservatives than communists) and they gave me a list of people they want to put up statues of. I think I'll wait till next week to tell you who they e decided on.

Since I'm neither a Democrat, socialist, nor communist, I'm not sure if I'm allowed to answer?
Generally speaking, I don't support the government paying for or maintaining any statue. I'm fine with them giving grants to museums for the upkeep, but that's all.
With the statues that I think you're talking about, though, we're talking about idolizing people that, today, would be called "terrorists." These terrorists led an insurrection that killed almost a million citizens, all because they didn't want to pay their fair share of taxes.

With that said, I like goddess's idea... we need more trees, not statues.
