Saturday, Sep. 16, 2023
Crossroads Harley Davidson

Bikers from all over are gearing up for the first annual "Bikers Helping Grannies" fundraiser bike ride sponsored by The Enrollment Center on September 16, 2023. This year's event will be riding through Wilkesboro, Elkin, Sparta, Laurel Springs, and North Wilkesboro, and it promises to be a day of fun, fellowship, and giving back to the community.

Sign-in and departure will be at CrossRoads Harley-Davidson in Wilkesboro, NC, from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. All bikes are welcome, and the cost is $20 for a single and $25 for a double. The last bike-in will be at 3:30 pm at Copper Barrel Distillery & Speakeasy. In addition to the bike ride, there will be food, live music, door prizes, and a silent auction.

You dont have to be a biker or even have a motorcycle to participate in the ride, the festivities, or the program! Call or email us for details on how you can participate.

The "Bikers Helping Grannies" fundraiser bike ride is an excellent opportunity to make a difference in the lives of seniors in need. There are many seniors in our community who make just a little over the minimum requirements for Medicaid assistance but still need extra help. They may not have the means to receive the help they require, especially after a medical incident. Our organization recognizes the critical need for this type of support in our community and is dedicated to ensuring that seniors receive the help they need to maintain their independence.

The mission of the benefit ride is to help seniors in need, and all money raised will go to the Blue Ridge Opportunity Commission (BROC), a 501 (3) non-profit organization established in 1966 as a Community Action Agency. BROC serves Alleghany, Ashe, and Wilkes counties, providing assistance and services to low-income families to enable them to move out of poverty.

The funds raised through this event will go towards providing custodial care, helping around the house, cleaning, changing bed sheets, taking out the trash, organizing as needed, sanitizing surfaces, and running errands for seniors in need. BROC will be managing and overseeing the scheduling of these services. The Enrollment Center has generously donated $2,000 to the Blue Ridge Opportunity Commission, Inc. (BROC) to kickstart the project. Our goal is to raise $20,000 annually to maintain this project's existence, and our mission is to triple that amount to support the growing need for assistance in the surrounding counties. We understand that this amount is not even a small touch on the number of seniors who require help, but it is a step in the right direction.

In the near future, we will also offer memberships to individuals who wish to help fund our mission and stay up to date through newsletters about the positive changes we are making in the community. You can sign up for our newsletter at no cost and keep up with our mission through email and Facebook. If you or your business are interested in sponsoring this cause please contact us at your earliest convenience. For more information about this fundraising event, please visit our website or Facebook page. We also have a GoFundMe page where you can donate and make a difference in the lives of seniors in our community.
