In reality had we invested in "green" energy decades ago, we might have reached Jimmy Carter's plea for us to end our reliance on foreign oil (OPEC+).

Oil companies chose to invest in "green" energy initiatives (and have been investing for quite some time). That was their choice, knowing that oil would eventually phase out.
Now that wont be immediate, but it will eventually.
And that's how capitalism works today.
Its like when tobacco companies chose to invest in weed years ago.

That's like telling Burger King to start a farm and raise more cattle to lower beef cost but keep in mind they are going to ban cattle in a decade. No corporation would invest in something that will take years to produce all while being told the government plans to shut them down in a decade.

He said we would need oil for at least another decade.
He wanted oil companies to build a refinery. It take five years to build a refinery. It take forever to get approval to build. Gov red tape.
So that's why they don't trust a word the fool says.
In fact, I just watched a diner full of people who suffered thru that mess, and not one single person said anything good about the speech of biden. All gave the speech two thumbs down.
They said " nothing but lies". That speech didn't fool anyone except the usual ones like these GW mush brains.
They don't have enough smarts to know what they heard anyway.

More the oil companies themselves. But yeah that little price war trump caused with saudis and russia sure didnt help any American oil businesses as many went bankrupt after that was caused.
I'll say it again, oil companies love a democrat in office. Let the earnings be an indicator of that. And they can just point at the government and the gullibles will bite.
Pay attention some time, it may help you not live in a bubble.

January 27, 2021. Executive Order 14008, entitled "Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad" ("Executive Order"), ordered the Secretary of the Department of the Interior to "pause" new oil and gas leases on public lands or in offshore waters pending the completion of a comprehensive review of Federal oil and gas permitting and leasing practices. Specifically, Section 208 of the Executive Order provides, in pertinent part:
Oil and Gas Natural Development on Public Lands and in Offshore Waters. To the extent consistent with applicable law, the Secretary of the Interior shall pause new oil and natural gas leases on public lands or in offshore waters pending completion of comprehensive review and reconsideration of Federal oil and gas permitting and leasing practices in light of the Secretary of the Interior's broad stewardship responsibilities over the public lands and in offshore waters, including potential climate and other impacts associated with oil and gas activities on public lands or in offshore waters.

This is incorrect. The actual statement he said was:
