You can thank the Bush era for the failed "no child left behind" nonsense.

The population has increased since the 50-60s so comparing then until now is ridiculous.

They create the worthless programs. Somebody sits up there that may have spent 2-3 years in a classroom thinking they know it all and comes up with ignert ideas that never work.

What about the worthless US Department of Education? Has our education system improved any since it's founding in 1980? Are we getting any kind of return on investment from the $80 million a year we spend on this agency?

A friend and I discussed this the other day. When we went to public school back in the 50's and 60's our county administration office employed 3 people. The Superintendent and his 2 secretaries. You'd see that old man at your school at least once a week walking around and observing how things were going. Today the same county has the same number of high schools and elementary schools. They've created middle schools with more personnel but now they have an administration office that's chocked full of associates, specialists, psychologists, program managers, secretaries etc. How did that old man do it. I feel I received as good or better education than is provided today.

Sad to say, not too many educators in public school these days

I respect educators, what I do not respect is political activist brainwashing children and leaving them so uneducated they cannot give change back from a dollar or scratch out their name in the sand

Fox has no respect for anything! Let alone education.

Those kids graduated public schools are your doctors, your scientists, your lawyers, your astronauts, your mothers, your fathers, your business leaders...on and on and on!
I respect teachers. I really do. As far as administrators go, judge them on there merits.

Clearly, fox does not know what education is. As an educator, social emotional development is clearly important for students regardless of the environment. There are great private schools and some parents are great educators. Fox, just hates teachers.

Didn't Wilkes County at least partially go back to school on August?

Since the strongest argument in favor of public school has been the social aspect as opposed to home schooling, how can public school survive. It has never been about the quality of the education. Our government schools are one of the greatest failure of a social experiment ever launched. Why would anyone want to keep feeding their garbage to our kids just for the education value?

Naw! Teachers are working harder now.

i would think it would take a lot more to teach in person at schools.

Should it take the same amount of employees to teach at home or at school?

To the best of my knowledge not one administrator has lost their job due to the schools being shut down because of the covids.

Let me see if I got this right. Before the China Plague, public educators said children were being harmed by home schooling and private schools. They feigned a philosophy that children could not learn social skills without exposure to government indoctrination centers. But now we have learned that they can learn just as well in their living room looking at a computer screen as they can attending school. We now have a movement of children out of public schools into private schools so they can be educated. Will this mean we need less public school teachers and overloaded administrations to meet the needs of these students locked out of the school room? Food for thought
