Thats really sweet

When I moved out, all I got was a "good luck" and a wave goodbye

Now that I think about it, Im not sure that I got a wave

kayla23, I'm not sure but I would think that some of the markets where vendors sell local products should have some. With us it was a family thing. When someone married and settled into their dwelling the family would bring them tools, fruit trees and a stand of bees. The cherry trees I have are offspring from my grandmother's home.

All I could find in the grocery store was frozen cherries

I guess theyre like bing cherries?

Id love to try a sour cherry cobbler, where can I find them?

Sour Cherry Cobbler is a favorite of mine!! The sweet of the topping counters the sour of the cherries.

kayla23, Tart would be a better word to describe the flavor of a sour cherry cobbler. I would recommend that you try one. There are many varieties of cherries that have a flavor that ranges from very sweet to tart. For just eating, nothing beats sitting out on a limb and stuffing your face with black heart cherries.

hillbilly666, When my wife pulled the cobbler out of the oven she instructed me to head to the store for vanilla ice cream. We have a little of everything growing where we live and I love to eat!

Do you have your own cherry trees? And do you make sour cherry jam? Another favorite of mine.

We were actually just talking about making one! Maybe next weekend.

1 cup of self rising flour, 1 cup of raw sugar, 1 cup of milk. Mix in a bowl.

Melt a stick of butter in an 8x8 dish.

Pour the flour-sugar-milk mix in the dish.

Dump fruit on top. Don't mix it up or anything, it'll take care of itself.

Bake at 350 for 30-45 minutes, or until it's not doughy. The actual time will vary based on how much fruit you use.

That recipe works for every fruit I've tried

I picked about a gallon of sour cherries this morning and we just pulled a sour cherry cobbler out of the oven. With a glass of cold sweet milk, it is one of my favorites. Anyone out there like a sour cherry cobbler?
